Busan Asian Film School (AFiS)

A New Educational Institution to Foster International Film Business Professionals.

“Very New Film School in Asia, Specializing in the International Film Business”
  • Busan AFiS aims to foster film professionals in Asia who will be specialized in international film business embracing film producing, investment, marketing, distribution as well as international co-production.
“New Film School for Young Asian Film Talents”
  • Busan AFiS aims to support young Asian film talents by inviting them to filmmaking workshops such as “Asian Film Academy(AFA)” co-hosted by Busan International Film Festival, Dongseo University and Busan Film Commission and “ASEAN-ROK Film Leaders Incubator: FLY” sponsored by ASEAN-ROK Cooperation Fund.
“New Film School for Busan Citizens”
  • Busan AFiS also aims to offer film culture programs to Busan citizens in order for them to become familiarized with cinema.

Education Programs





International Film

Business Academy

- Film business intensive course focused on international film business including: film     production, marketing and distribution

- Fostering film professionals specialized in international co-production

- lectures on film policies and film-related laws, business management, media storytelling etc.

-Feature film project development workshop and pitching event during BIFF period (with invited major film production & distribution companies)

- Education in English

Asian Filmmakers with experience in feature length filmmaking or movie-related business

(6 month course with 2 semesters)

Asian Film Academy


- Annual Educational program on filmmaking for 18 days, including Busan International Film Festival period, established in 2005

- Short filmmaking workshop for 24 young Asian talents

- Hosted by Busan International Film Festival, Dongseo University and Busan Film Commission

- Education in English

ASEAN-ROK Film Leaders Incubator: FLY

- Annual short filmmaking workshop for 22 young filmmakers from 10 ASEAN countries and Korea

- Education in English

Filmmakers from 10 ASEAN countries and Korea

Film Workshop for Asian Children and Teenagers

- 3 day film workshop for Asian children and teenagers (including Koreans)

- Co-hosted by Busan International Kids and Youth Film Festival

- Education in English

Visual imaging technology workshops on directing, cinematography, editing etc.

- Lectures on film theory, screen writing, film production etc.
