FLY2017 will be held

- 21 trainees from 11 countries, Korea and ASEAN, are selected
As one of the ASEAN-ROK’s cooperative project by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, ASEAN-ROK Film Leaders Incubator: FLY2017, hosted by Busan Metropolitan City, Indonesian Agency for Creative Economy (BEKRAF) and organized by Busan Film Commission-Busan Asian Film School, Association of Indonesian Film Producer s (APROFI), Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival, Asian Film Commissions Network (AFCNet), will be held from upcoming November 20th (Mon.) to December 3rd (Sun.) in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
Indonesian Agency for Creative Economy, Association of Indonesian Film Producers and Busan Film Commission held the press conference on the project before the actual FLY2017 workshop, in Jakarta, Indonesia on 15th (Wed.) at 2 p.m. (local time). CHOI Yoon, director of Busan Film Commission has mentioned FLY2017’s aim by saying “FLY project has its aim to solve a problem that ‘in Asian countries many talented young filmmakers have problem accessing to film educations and institutions’ by helping them through FLY2017 and giving opportunities to meet mentors of film industry so that they could make a dream in actuality.” Furthermore, Fauzan Zidni, chairman of Association of Indonesian Film Producers said “I believe that this project will contribute to Asian film industry’s future as well as its development. Also, I hope especially, young filmmakers participating FLY2017 to lead their own countries’ ‘New Generation’ as soon as possible.”
21 trainees from 11 countries from ASEAN and Korea was final selected last August, and since then, they have been working on online pre-production with directing mentors to design and develop scenarios. Starting on 20th (Mon.) with the Opening Ceremony of FLY2017, they will be put into whole filmmaking process including completing scripts, location scouting, casting call, shooting, post-production, etc. to make two short films. Not only this but they will also be attending intensified lectures of each field (directing, cinematography, music, editing), screening & talk sessions with their directing and cinematography instructors, master class, graduation screening and graduation ceremony.
As the directing instructors of FLY2017, SONG Ilgon from Korea (Always, Sorry and Thank You) and Lucky Kuswandi from Indonesia (The Fox Exploits the Tiger’s Might, Selamat Pagi, Malam, Madam X) have been selected. As for the cinematography instructors, CHO Eunsoo from Korea (Love Lies, Memories of Sword) and Bayu Prihantoro Filemon from Indonesia (On the Origin of Fear, Peculiar Vacation and Other Illnesses) will take parts in.
Meanwhile, 2 short films made during FLY2017 will be screened at CGV Yogyakarta on December 2nd at 5 p.m. as an official selection of the Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival which will be having its opening on December 1st.
