Busan Film Commission (BFC) will host a forum to commemorate its 25th anniversary, focusing on ‘Korean Film Industry and AI Capital, Digital Locations, and Legal Issues.’
The forum will be held on October 6, 2024, from 3:45 PM to 5:15 PM, as part of the AI Conference at the Asian Contents & Film Market 2024 (ACFM), which takes place at BEXCO during Busan International Film Festival.
The forum will address three notable issues at the intersection of the Korean film industry and AI, discussing ways for generative AI and content to coexist and thrive. Moderated by Kim Sung-hoon, Head of Digital Content at CINE21, the forum will feature:
- Park Jae-won, Vice President of Saltlux, the first listed IT company in Korea based on generative AI technology, discussing Saltlux Innovation (investment in AI and big data) and the potential for future content-related investment.
- Chang Wonick, CEO of XON Studios, specializing in virtual production, presenting the future vision of digital location services utilizing generative AI.
- Hwang Kyung-il, Executive Director of CJ ENM Legal Team, addressing the convenience AI technology brings to creation, the rights of creators, and the roles and responsibilities of future creators.
As artificial intelligence increasingly influences content production, the convergence of content and technology has emerged as a pivotal area of focus. The ACFM has previously announced that its AI Conference on October 6 will feature six sessions dedicated to exploring the integration of AI technology within the film industry.
Kang Sung-kyu, Chairman of the BFC, stated, “This forum will provide an opportunity to evaluate and share the strategic direction of Busan’s film and audiovisual sectors, positioning the city to lead in the rapidly evolving industry.”
Additionally, on October 7, 2024, at 6:00 PM, a special reception will be held to mark the 25th anniversary of the BFC and the 20th anniversary of the Asian Film Commissions Network (AFCNet). The event will take place on the 4th floor of the Busan Film & Audiovisual Industry Center, located at 39 Centumseo-ro, Haeundae-gu, Busan.
The reception will feature a commemorative ceremony honoring the significant contributions of both the BFC and AFCNet over the past decades. It will also provide valuable networking opportunities, fostering greater collaboration and communication among industry professionals.
