2025 FLY Film Festival

Call for Entries & Submission Guidelines

Under the ASEAN-ROK Film Community Programme, Busan Film Commission will host the 2025 FLY Film Festival, celebrating the works of FLY alumni. As this year marks the 11th and final anniversary of FLY, we look forward to commemorating this remarkable finale with the FLY community. We invite alumni to reunite in Busan and share their filmmaking journeys and experiences. If you are a FLY alumnus interested in screening your film or participating in the festival, please refer to the guidelines below.

I. Overview

       ○ Festival Title: 2025 FLY FILM Festival

       ○ Date: 3 (Mon) - 6 (Thu) November 2025 (4 days)

       ○ Venue: Busan Cinema Center

       ○ Organizer: Busan Film Commission

       ○ Supported by: ASEAN-Korea Cooperation Fund (AKCF)

       ○ Program

                - Opening Ceremony and Networking Events

                - Screenings: Short and feature-length films directed or produced by FLY alumni

                - FLY Forum: Case studies and roundtable discussions with alumni and industry professionals

II. Key Dates

       ○ Call for Entries and Application Deadline: 2 - 23 July 2025 at 18:00 (KST)

       ○ Selection Announcement: Mid-August 2025

       ○ Screening Copy Due: 1 September 2025

III. Submission Guidelines

       ○ Eligibility:

          Short or feature-length films in which FLY alumni served as key roles (director, writer, cinematographer, or producer)

                - The film must have been completed no earlier than November 2012, following FLY2012

                - Films that have screened at other domestic or international festivals will be considered

       ○ Submission Procedure:

                - If you provide false or misleading information, the film selection may be subject to cancellation at any time.

               2. Submit screener

                   Submit an online streaming link via entry form

                - Films in languages other than Korean or English must include English subtitles

                - The submitted screener must be identical to the final screening version. The festival reserves the right to cancel selection if significant differences are found

                - Submitted screeners will not be returned and will be professionally destroyed after the selection process

       ○ Final Screening Materials:

          Format: DCP or MOV (must include English subtitles)

          Deadline: 1 September 2025

                - All copyright, music licensing, and portrait rights must be fully cleared by the applicant prior to submission. Failure to comply may result in cancellation from

                  the selection

                - The festival is not responsible for any copyright or licensing issues

                - Submitted materials may be used by the festival for programming, publication, and promotional purposes, including print and online media

IV. Selection & Notification

       ○ All entries will be reviewed by a selection committee

       ○ The Festival will notify the selection results to individual filmmakers by mid-August

                - Further instructions regarding materials required from selected films will be provided separately

                - The Festival does not provide individual explanations on the non-selection of a film

V. Important Notice

       ○ Selected directors/producers and FLY Forum panelists will be provided with round-trip airfare and accommodation

                - Participation in all official festival programs and events is mandatory

       ○ FLY alumni who are not selected, or who wish to attend the festival without submitting a film, will still have an opportunity to participate. A separate call for

          participation will be shared after the official film selection announcement in August. Please note that while airfare will not be provided, accommodation will

          be covered for selected attendees.

VI. Personal Information Collection and Use Notice

    By submitting your entry to the 2025 FLY Film Festival, you acknowledge and agree to the following:

       ○ Collected items: Name, nationality, e-mail address, phone number, biography, film credits, etc.

       ○ Purpose of collection and use: For submission processing, participant selection and communication, event organization, and participant management, strictly

          within the scope necessary for the festival.

       ○ Retention and disposal period: All personal information will be securely deleted within one year after the conclusion of the 2025 FLY Film Festival, except where

          retention is required by applicable law.

       ○ Provision to third parties and outsourcing: Personal information will not be provided to third parties or external service providers without your prior consent,

          except when necessary for the festival’s operation and under strict confidentiality agreements.

       ○ Data subject’s rights: You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time. For such requests or inquiries,

          please contact the festival office at thedongho@filmbusan.kr.

    By submitting your entry, you are deemed to have agreed to the above terms regarding the collection and use of your personal information.
